Hiding

My mind goes back to a time so distant

When the air was heavy with the load of whispers in it

Every truth, every lie, every hidden thought

All the hiding, all the searching, the confusion it brought

Oh how the silence screams the truth

In the sickness of our youth

A pair of eyes spoke of a worry

Another soul learned of a pain

Inside a heart, feelings grew blurry

A spirit tried to hold on in vain

Hidden thoughts drown our freedom

A black umbrella hides my face

So many truths. I don't want to see them

Memories have a bitter taste

Mouths say so little. Eyes say so much

So many secrets I fear to touch

That is why I am contented abiding

In this place that some call hiding

Nobody can see me, nor do I want to see them

If knowing is poison, then seeing is its stem

Some say I'm just fearful. I say I am fine

I close my eyes and leave the memories behind
