Water

Life, they say
Has not a way
To exist a day
Without water.
Water, its said
Is life's bread

And we'd all be dead
Without it.

A thirsty child
Frail and mild
Who has been dying a while
Is saved by a pure drink.
The glass reaches
His parched lips and to us teaches
And beseeches
To love the saving of lives.

Another boy far away
Won't live to see another day
For while swimming he did pass away,

Murdered by the water.
Ironic how life
Can cause death and strife,
How it can take away life.
And so it is with water.

A mother at home
Sits alone.
Through the window is shone
A fast approaching flood.
Her heart fills with dread
For soon she'll be dead
Water killing her instead
Of saving her.

And so is life unfair
When we get to where
Our life source is bareof love.
It kills us to see
What it can really be
A murderous sea
We can't live without.

So were her thoughts
With sorrow of lots
She to the room brought
As she took a glass of water,
Next came the pills
The bottle did spill.
So much of thrill
Of living.

Her body fell cold.
The lies had grown old.
What was real had been sold
By the liars.
What seemed all good

Didn't do what it should.
This truth has still stood
About water.

What keeps us alive
Stabs us from behind,
Makes us helpless and blind
Like water.
It gives us life and takes it away
No brighter days.
No other way.
That is water.
